How-to drive daily active users with time-based reminders

This example sends a message to all users who booked a flight, 2 hours before their scheduled time to provide a travel guide.

  1. Name the message (Ex. “Reminder Push Notification”)
  2. Choose message type - “Push Notification”
  3. Customize the message (Ex. "Hey {{name}}, your flight to {{city}} is in a few hours. Here's your travel guide.")
  4. Select Open URL as the Open Action
  5. For the URL, add a deeplink that is dynamically customized. See here for more info on customizing deep links.
  6. For Targets, choose “All Users”
  7. For Delivery, choose “Triggered”
  8. Set the trigger to “User triggers event”
  9. Edit the message trigger event.  Set it to the event you use to capture when a user books their flight (Ex. Event - "Flight Booked")
  10. Set the delay - “2 hours”
  11. Change the time parameter from "after trigger" to "before time parameter"
  12. Enter the time parameter value. This will dictate when to send the message with your delay (Ex. "Flight time")
  13. Select “Start” in the top right corner to set the message live

Pro tip: Create a lifecycle campaign that sends a weather update the night before, a travel guide the day of and a survey the day after the trip. This provides the user with a customized experience from start to finish. Learn more about lifecycle campaigns.
