Why is there a discrepancy between Campaign Results and Analytics?

Question

Why is there a discrepancy between Campaign Results and Analytics?

Answer

If you compare the performance of your campaigns between the "Results" tab in "Campaigns" and "Analytics" you may identify some discrepancies in the provided statistics. The main reasons for that are:

  • Campaign Results are live, while Analytics can take up to 4h to ingest. If the campaign you are checking has been launched recently, this is the most probable reason for the discrepancy.
  • To be able to provide near instant statistics, Campaign Results are optimised for speed. This can introduce small deviations in the reported numbers, no more than 2%.
  • Unique event occurrences are calculated differently between Campaign Results and Analytics. In Campaign Results the number of unique events is reported for the entire period. In Analytics unique events are calculated on daily basis meaning that events tracked by the same user in two days will be counted twice. The end result is that the count of unique events in Analytics are usually slightly larger than the number reported in Campaign Results.
